Who We Are?
A creative space with an open soul, inspiring everyone to see, hear, and feel.
We position ourselves as a modern-format theatre. Together with a team of creative hearts, we strive to convey the vital importance of intellectual development and critical thinking.
We prove to our audience that contemporary theatre can preserve heritage, identity, and original aesthetics, while remaining completely unafraid of artistic experimentation.
Synthesizing tradition with cutting-edge meanings, we continue the classical path laid by the theatre’s founder, Yaroslav Fedoryshyn. At the same time, we introduce bold new methods of emotional reflection for the audience: interaction, interactivity, and intimacy. Meanwhile, our rock band Sunflowers, combined with the ever-vibrant voices of our actors, infuses the theatre with a distinct spirit of rebellion and creative freedom.
Our mission is to popularize boundary-free theatre—both on stage and on the streets—driven by our unique, signature methodology. We aim to transform a standard performance into a true cultural event and performance art piece, allowing as many people as possible to immerse themselves deeply into the world through our eyes. The eyes of art. The eyes of the Voskrinnia Theatre.
Founder of the Theatre
He created his own theatrical universe, where life and theatre intertwined into a single, inseparable tapestry.
Yaroslav Vasylovych Fedoryshyn was an Honored Artist of Ukraine, as well as the founder, long-serving director, and artistic director of the Lviv Academic Theatre "Voskresinnia."
Yaroslav Fedoryshyn did not merely master theatrical art; he intimately knew and felt the depth and magic of its language—a language through which humanity speaks with God. During his lifetime, he used to say: "For me, art is my way of life. Art is a mystery that gives birth to theatrical faith."
The History of the Theatre
The "Voskresinnia" Theatre: A Life Story
In 1990, in Lviv, inside the building of the former "Pioner" cinema, director Yaroslav Fedoryshyn founded the "Voskresinnia" Theatre.
That same year, the theatre instantly captivated audiences with its debut performance, "The Miracle of the Holy Father Nicholas over Polovchyn." This very production marked the theatre's first tour—a journey to the town of Turka, nestled in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains, a place where the magic of theatre had never set foot before.
The theatre has brought together people who harmoniously complement one another, creating a seamless mechanism of inspiration, respect, and shared purpose. The uniqueness of the "Voskresinnia" creative team lies in its professional synthesis of every shade of personality and worldview of each individual artist.
